Youth Council Committee

  • The Youth Council Committee was created to empower youth who are residents of the Housing Authority of Baltimore City to become an active part in the success of themselves and their community.

  • Through innovation, training, and dedication, the Youth Council Committee aims to cultivate a supportive environment that promotes personal growth, advocacy, and the development of future leaders.

What is the Youth Council Committee?

The Youth Council Committee is a peer group that gives Housing Authority of Baltimore City youth support and guidance in their journey of personal and professional growth by assisting them with finding appropriate and necessary resources.

Providing Youth Council Committee members with the opportunity to be the leaders of their future ensures that committee members are successful in achieving their goals.

  • Must be between the ages of 14-17.

    Must be a Housing Authority of Baltimore City resident.

    Must be able to attend Youth Council Committee meetings.

    Must be interested in personal and professional growth.

What do I gain as a Youth Council committee member?

  • As a Youth Council Committee (YCC) member, you have the opportunity to provide feedback on issues that directly impact youth in the Housing Authority of Baltimore City.

What is expected of a Youth Council Committee member?

  • Attend monthly committee meetings.

  • Provide feedback on Housing Authority of Baltimore City policy related to youth services or youth development.

  • Assist with the facilitation of youth outreach activities.

Youth Council Committee positions

  • Chairperson: Responsible for leading meetings, setting agendas, and ensuring members are engaged.

  • Vice Chairperson: Assist the chairperson in their duties and steps in when the chairperson is absent.

  • Secretary: Handles administrative tasks, such as taking meeting notes and keeping records.

  • Public Relations Officer: Promotes youth outreach activities and events, including, assisting with the management of the youth department’s social media account(s), and communicating with the public.

  • Event Coordinator: Assists with the planning and organizing of events and activities, including logistics, scheduling, and coordination with other organizations.
